Airports authority of India (AAI) is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Civil aviation, Government of India. The Organization is entrusted with the responsibility of creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure both on ground and air space in the country. AAI also coordinates between various agencies working in the airports. The main function of AAI is Design, Development, Operation and maintenance of International and domestic airports and Civil Enclaves in India.

Services provided by the department

At Bathinda Airport, The Operational area, which includes the runway and taxiways is looked after by the IAF. AAI maintains the passenger terminal building, the apron area in the air side where passengers embark/disembark from aircrafts and the land side area. In the terminal building passengers’ comforts and needs like seating, toilet facilities, drinking water, baggage trolleys, snack Bar are taken care of. In the land side car parking and car rental facilities are available.

AAI provides infrastructure for the Airport Security Unit in the form of equipment like CCTV, X-Bis and for Airlines, in the form of checkin counters conveyors ramp area etc.

  • Flight operations at Bathinda Airport commenced from 11.12.2016. Initially alliance air operated flights, thrice a week between Delhi and Bathinda.
  • MOU for the RCS-UDAN, amongst the Govt. of Punjab, Ministry of Civil Aviation (Govt. of India) and the Airports Authority of India was signed on 15.06.2017.
  • From 27.02.2018 a new route was added between Jammu and Bathinda plying seven days a week.
  • An additional flight which is NON-RCS, between Delhi and Bathinda has been the latest addition since 15.07.2018. This flight is once a week.
